Incarnation

a poem

With a cry and a shout
baby Jesus came out
of the womb where divine was knit flesh.

With a groan and a bleed
Mary on her knees
Passed the placenta of God.

This is divinity’s collision into
humanity and it begins to
change what we know of ourselves and God.

This blood and guts
of God and us
is at once reconciliation and hope.
